Call of Duty: Black Ops' Rezurrection DLC hitting PC and PS3 next week

PS3 and PC gamers have shamefully allowed the undead to bounce across the surface of our lunar satellite for far too long -- next Thursday, their extraterrestrial galavanting must come to an end. Activision has announced that the Call of Duty: Black Ops Rezurrection DLC pack, which adds five Zombie maps to the game (including the entirely ridiculous Moon stage), will arrive on PC and PS3 Thursday, September 22.

Gears of War 3 gets Golden launch week bonuses

If you didn't get your very own gold-plated murder machine during the Gears of War 3 beta back in April, we've got good news – which is, uh, that you'll still be able to do that. The US Air Force is sponsoring "Gears of War 3 Golden Wings Week" for next week's Gears 3 launch, and players who go online to share their chainsaw-powered love with other Gears players between September 20 - 26 will unlock the Golden Lancer and Golden Hammerburst weapon skins.

PokePark 2: Beyond the World coming to Wii this fall

Hey internet, remember PokePark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure? It was that not entirely unlike Tiny Toon Adventures 2: Trouble in Wackyland minigame collection set in a Pokemon-themed poke-themepark, remember? You and Pikachu had to complete minigames and make new pokepals in order to collect the 14 missing Sky Prism pieces for Mew. Really? Not ringing any bells? Well, Nintendo and Creatures Inc remember it, and they're making another one.

The latest issue of CoroCoro Comics has revealed PokePark 2: Beyond the World, headed to the Wii (in Japan, at least) this winter. Pikachu returns as the title's star pocket monster, bringing with him additional playable pals and 4 person multiplayer. No further details are available at the moment, but Tokyo Game Show's imminent hugeness looms over the horizon in a reassuring fashion.

Nintendo 3DS' bizarre circle pad attachment coming to Japan December 10

In the midst of revealing a new color for its latest handled, the 3DS, Nintendo also let slip some other, strikingly more interesting information during it's pre-Tokyo Game Show presser this afternoon in Japan. For one, the bizarro second analog nub will be arriving at Japanese retailers starting this December 10, and it'll run customers ¥1500 ($19.50).

FFXIII-2 90% Complete, Release Date Coming Soon

Well, that was fast.
According to some pre-TGS 2011 information found at Andriasang, it seems Final Fantasy XIII-2 is 90% complete, and we can even expect a finalized release date at the Tokyo Game Show. We've already heard that US gamers can expect it in January 2012 and if accurate, Japanese fans should get the highly anticipated action/RPG before the end of the year. And yes, we can probably call it an action/RPG, 'cuz a straight-up role-playing game...it ain't.
Plus, producer Motomu Toriyama also said to expect the following features: over 150 monsters to raise (yeah, you can catch and breed monsters in FFXIII-2), Chocobos will be ride-able anywhere, and oh yes, there's a time travel interface. You should definitely read up on that...who's psyched for the new FF adventure?

Kinect used to monitor the elderly, less creepy than it sounds

We're going to be frank and completely honest right now: The idea of being elderly and living alone is horrifying. We're barely functional as human beings now, and we're in the prime of our lives! What happens when we can't figure out the new-fangled DVRs of the future? What happens when we put the microwave in the oven? What if we develop a new illness, and no one is around to notice?

We're probably on our own with the DVR and the microwave, but a group of researchers at Missouri University are looking to use Microsoft's Kinect as a solution for that last problem. The idea is fairly straight forward: Kinect units are placed around an elderly person's home and are used to analyze their walking patterns and movement behavior, which often times indicate trouble ahead of other, more noticeable symptoms.

The theory has been tested at TigerPlace, an independent living facility for Missouri's elderly, where researchers were able to spot trouble ten to fourteen days faster than normal. It all seems rather big-brother-ish at first, but we're willing to do anything to make being old less terrifying.
